Tips for choosing the best sounds, music, and volume levels for sleep and relaxation
The Dreampad works with almost any audio source, but certain sounds are especially effective for relaxation and sleep.
Recommended Audio Types
Many users prefer:
- Ambient music
- Nature sounds
- Meditation audio
- Slow instrumental music
- Low-frequency sounds like cello music
- Calm podcasts or audiobooks
Music with heavy vocals, sudden volume changes, or strong melodies may keep the brain more active and make sleep more difficult.
Finding the Right Volume
We recommend using a low “whisper-level” volume.
Keep in mind:
- Side sleepers generally need lower volume levels
- Back sleepers may require slightly higher volume
- Lower volumes often become easier to hear after a few minutes of listening quietly
If the audio feels stimulating rather than relaxing:
- Lower the volume
- Try simpler or less engaging audio
- Avoid fast-paced or highly emotional content
